Triple Tangent Twednesday!

1.  Tonight, David and I partied like it was 1999.

Ahhhhh yeah.

2.  That was our bill from what you might recognize as this...

But what you don't see pictured on that receipt is this...

Also known as the cake that was given to us by one of the waitresses.  Not our actual server, who was a guy named Ryan who didn't seem to care for us... but another waitress who we have had many other times.  She brought us cake.  Because she likes us.  I need to become liked by other restaurant professionals.  This whole cake thing is all right with me.

3.  That being said... I went to Lululemon today (SERIOUSLY, THIS IS A FULL BLOWN ADDICTION) and got super excited because there was an incredibly cute Stride jacket on sale, and since I'm madly in love with the Stride jacket I already have (don't judge me), it only made logical sense that I get another one.  Except that the one on sale was a size 2.  The one I have is a size 6... and let's be honest, it probably should be a size 8, but I'm a jerk and if the size 6 fits, then I'm buying the size 6.  Please.  Regardless... I tried on the size 2.  And it did, in fact, close!  But it was the hardest that poor little spandex had ever worked in its little spandex life.

I can't imagine why that size 2 didn't fit perfectly.  It obviously couldn't have been that pizza that I devoured.  Or the cake that I stole most of while David wasn't looking.  And it certainly wasn't this...

Obviously it was a sizing error.  I should report that ill-fitting jacket directly to Lululemon.  And pray that they don't find this blog.

Movement is a blessing.

Today's workouts:
Turbo Fire - Fire 30 and Stretch 10
321 calories/32:34

Power Pairs x3 and Ab Burner on Nike Training Club app
378 calories/50:23

This weekend was really hard on me.  It started with unnecessary, hurtful drama from coworkers made worse by zero support from my useless excuse for a manager... and ended with unnecessary, hurtful drama from other people in my life that, though probably not intended as malicious, ended up causing a lot of stress and pain for me.  Oh, and Godspell opens on Friday.  Definitely no stress there.

So when I woke up this morning, I was so insanely grateful it was Monday, and that the weekend was over (that's not a good sign, really...), and then I got smacked in the face with more stress.  Essentially, I lost it, and to quote Julie and Julia... "I cried like a small, emotionally disturbed child."  It was super glamorous.  And to be honest, I wanted a whole lot more of this...

than this...

And then I actually started my workout.  And my whole attitude changed.  I was so incredibly grateful to be able to do that workout.  I pushed myself hard because I knew I could, and how fantastic is it to know you can push yourself?  To know that your body is strong and that you are capable of whatever you've set your mind to.  I took all of the pain and stress of the past few days and used it as energy.  With every punch and kick, I felt it leave my body.  When it was hard, I talked myself through it, because I knew how badly I needed it.  And when it was all said and done, I felt so much better.  I think I successfully sweat out all the negativity I had in me.

The truth is, I try not to take exercise and eating all that seriously most of the time - I'll skip workouts and  eat cake and it's okay with me.  But sometimes I think we all forget what a profound blessing it is to simply be able to move!  Running is a gift, Turbo Fire is a gift, whatever activity you love is an absolute gift.  And I feel silly because I'm honestly getting all emotional writing this, but it was such a wakeup call for me today.  Sure, it was grueling, and part of wanted to whine the entire time about how hard it was and how sweat was dripping off my nose and I can't stand it when sweat drips off my stupid nose... but I was practically having a panic attack and 30 minutes of Turbo Fire later, I was smiling.  I won't go so far as to say it was a miracle (that cupcake up there is the true miracle), but I will take a moment to say thank you to my body for being able to do that for me.

I hope you all felt blessed with your own movement today, and if not, then maybe tomorrow!  Or... just bless yourself with the miracle of cake.

I am 24 today!

Today was my birthday, yay!!  Hence the late night update... I had a big day!  Actually, I had a fantastic day, despite a little lingering tooth pain :)

Because my mom is incredibly good to me and never judges my sometimes questionable eating tendencies, I got my Sausage McMuffin with egg fix this morning.  Waking up to breakfast waiting for you = success.  I also got to open an e-card from the boyfriend that was completely precious - a sleeping kitty wearing a crown!  It's gross how well he knows me.

Then I spent an hour going on a wild goose chase for the perfect glitter nail polish for my birthday.  Without going into too much detail about my sick obsession with nail polish and nail polish blogs, let's just say I was looking for a specific polish, which I unfortunately could not find.  But I found a darn good stand-in!

Blurry, but for anyone who is also obsessed (or even vaguely interested) this is Party of Five from Wet 'n Wild.  It was a cheap treat and after I bought it, I went home and gave myself a little manicure and pedicure.  In the afternoon, I went on another birthday adventure with my mom - I got feather extensions!  This is something I've been really interested in for months now, but was unsure and was working in a place with strict appearance guidelines.  But you only turn 24 once, so I thought why not, and got a few!

These are the most obvious ones since they are the brightest and towards the outside of my hair.

This little white one has a yellow and orange friend that are hiding - this bundle is less visible because it is the in the bottom layer of my hair.  No explanation of the face.

I am still a little worried about the white feather.  I like it, but don't want it to look like I suddenly got a really long gray hair.  Hopefully it will instead look suave and fashionablà la...

Stacy London...

... or Maxwell Sheffield.

I'm still getting used to the feathers, but I think I like them.  Next time I'm totally going for pink and turquoise though.  Post-feathers, mom and I did a little shopping, and then it was off to work for me... my first real meeting as a real receptionist!  It was actually really exciting, especially because the first member I weighed in got to goal today, which my mom said was a good omen.  I really like the people I'll be working with, too, which is wonderful.

After work, I came home to tuna casserole, one of my favorite meals, because my mom really is awesome.  Then I got to open presents which was thrilling.  I pretty much got everything I wanted because my parents spoil me, and I am okay with it.  I am now the proud owner of my very own Garmin Forerunner 305 (!!!) and INSANITY (!!!).  And luckily for me, tomorrow is my post-op appointment with the oral surgeon, so I can find out when I can exercise again.  I'm so excited to try the Garmin out!

I had a lot of really deep and introspective thoughts I was going to share about birthdays, and the depth of another year passing, and the importance of living each moment to the fullest... but all I'm thinking about is the adorably tiny and wonderful chocolate cake I just devoured...

... so I'll save the deep thoughts for tomorrow.
